![]() It may be possible that you’re looking at this service and wonder what that has to do with carpet cleaning. Fair enough, but tile and grout, like carpets, are a common flooring solution, and like carpets, your tiles can get dirty. And that stuff that makes up that dirt, can make people sick. So, when you get right down to it, we offer our tile and grout cleaning service because we want to make sure people stay healthy.
Most people have tiles somewhere in their house. The most common place, is of course, the bathroom, with kitchens also a common location. Tiles are particularly popular in places where water spillage is to be expected. Over the course of time, water and dirt accumulates on the tiles and grout. Grout is porous, so it sucks in the moisture really well, like a sponge. Often, this leads to the creation and then the spread of mould and mildew. If you’ve seen little black discolourations following your grout and spreading across the tiles, this is probably what is happening. Mould is a type of fungus; it loves moisture. What usually causes reactions in humans is the spores that the mould produces to reproduce, as these spores can easily travel on the air. However, if you can see mould, you have probably already likely been breathing in their spores. They can infect the health of people who are particularly allergic or sensitive to them. This can produce symptoms as basic as a runny or blocked nose, some irritation of the eyes and nose area, but also wheezing, and in people who have asthma, the spores could cause an attack. People can experience more serious symptoms than these, and on very rare occasions, people can develop mould infection in the lungs. Some types of mould can be easily removed with anti-fungal cleaner, but some types require more rigorous, professional cleaning. We would suggest that if you are unsure of what you should do in the situation where you find mould growing on your tiles, that you talk to someone like us, a professional cleaner trained in cleaning. In the kitchen, some of the same things can happen, but in the kitchen, your grout might also absorb airborne grease and air droplets. This could cause what is known as limescale to appear. Over time, this can cause your tiles to become chipped and damaged, which might necessitate an expensive repair cost or repair job. |
